Kegg Pipe Organ Builders, Hartville, Ohio, has been commissioned to build a new pipe organ for St. Thomas Episcopal Church, San Antonio, Texas, using pipes from 1960 Aeolian-Skinner Opus 1408. Jefferson Community Church, San Antonio, the original home church of the organ, closed in 2024, and the instrument was acquired by St. Thomas Church.
Kegg has removed the organ and will be building an all-new chassis while making some additions and rescaling of some pipework. The new organ of three manuals, 26 ranks with its 1960 scales will better fit the new space, which is smaller than the original home. This project will be completed in 2028. St. Thomas Church music director is Ryan Becker.
