David E. Wallace & Co. LLC Pipe Organs announce the dedication of the Hook & Hastings Opus 1487 at St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill Catholic Church, 313 Second Street NE, Washington, D.C., Sunday, January 11, at 4:00 pm.
Wallace has completed a full restoration of the organ. The primary focus of the restoration was to return the organ to its original condition when it first arrived at St. Joseph’s in 1891. Work included full cleaning and repair, restoration of the feeder bellows and handpump, historically informed painting of the façade pipes, addition of a trombone pedal stop, new blower, refinished casework, releathering, replacement of trackers, new chest tables, interior ladders, adjustable bench, and more.
The program will feature director of music and organist Maria Balducci and St. Joseph’s Festival Choir and Brass.
