Foley-Baker, Inc., Tolland, Connecticut, has completed the organ installation at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church, Harwich, Massachusetts: two manuals and pedal, 18 stops, 20 ranks, 1,186 pipes.
The organ was originally built by Southfield Organ Builders (1991) for Saint Paul Lutheran Church of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. After that church closed, Saint Peter’s Church obtained the organ in 2022. Foley-Baker removed the organ and undertook a complete renovation and alteration for the new location.
Southfield’s original case enclosure could not be retained, as Saint Peter’s ceiling height was lower than that of Saint Paul’s, and the congregation at Saint Peter’s wanted nothing to block the rose window located high on the wall on which the organ would be located. Foley-Baker redesigned the layout, with two new cases that reused most all the materials from Southfield’s original case, including the polished tin façade pipes. New grille fronts were in keeping with the sea theme in the rose window.
The organ was dedicated on June 28, and is featured on the cover of the July 2025 issue of The Diapason:
