Baylor University organ studio in Germany
In late May, the Baylor University organ studio embarked on a week-long study trip to Germany. Organized by Jens Korndörfer, associate professor of organ, ten members of the studio played fifteen historic or reconstructed organs in Berlin and Leipzig.
Highlights included the Protestant cathedral (1905 Sauer), the Marienkirche (1723 Wagner), and the Amalienorgel (1755 Migendt) in Berlin, the 1746 Hildebrandt organ in Naumburg, and the Thomaskirche (Sauer 1889, Woehl 2000) in Leipzig. Additionally, the studio viewed original manuscripts by Bach and Mendelssohn at the Staatsbibliothek, attended a concert at the Philharmonie in Berlin, and played in masterclasses with Henry Fairs (Berlin) and Martin Schmeding (Leipzig).
