
Baylor University, Waco, Texas, announces its Third National High School Organ Competition, October 25, to be held in Truett Seminary’s Powell Chapel with its three-manual Létourneau organ.
Ten finalists will compete for a total of $2,250 in cash prizes: first prize, $1,000, in memory of Joyce Jones; second prize, $500, sponsored by the Central Texas Chapter of the American Guild of Organists; young organist prize, $500, sponsored by Orgues Létourneau; hymn prize, $250, sponsored by Wolf Pipe Organs.
The required repertoire consists of one piece by Bach, a contrasting piece, and a hymn (optional). Application deadline is August 31.
