Baylor University High School Organ Competition
Baylor University, Waco, Texas, announces its Fourth National High School Organ Competition, October 10, in Powell Chapel, Truett Seminary. All students in grades eight through twelve are eligible.
The competition will take place on the chapel’s Létourneau organ of three manuals, 54 ranks. First prize is $1,000 (in memory of Joyce Jones); second prize, $500 (sponsored by Jack P. Martin); young organists prize, $500 (sponsored by Létourneau Pipe Organs); hymn prize, $250 (sponsored by Wolf Pipe Organs); Bach prize, $250 (sponsored by John Dixon). In addition there are $100 gift certificates from The Leupold Foundation for each of the five prize winners.
Application deadline is August 24.
