Alexander Little to Church of the Ascension, New York
Alexander Little is appointed director of music for the Church of the Ascension, New York, New York, succeeding Dennis Keene, who retired in May. Little most recently served as director of music for St. Anne Catholic Church, Rochester, New York, and prior to that as assistant organist for Christ Church Episcopal. He earned his doctoral degree at the Eastman School of Music, studying with David Higgs, where he was also awarded the Artist’s Certificate, and where he held graduate award and teaching assistant positions.
Little was born in the UK, where he trained as a chorister at Norwich Cathedral. He completed his undergraduate and master’s (musicology) degrees at Merton College, Oxford, where he was organ scholar and assistant organist. While at Oxford, he provided organ music for the college chapel, assisted the director of music, and accompanied the choir on radio broadcasts, CD recordings, and national and international tours.
