Joel Stoppenhagen to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Des Peres, Missouri
Joel Stoppenhagen is appointed assistant kantor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Des Peres, Missouri. There his responsibilities include serving as organist, choral accompanist, composer and arranger, and music teacher in the church’s day school. St. Paul’s Church was established in 1849 and is a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
Stoppenhagen holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Valparaiso University and a master’s degree in sacred music from the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, he served as an organist for the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and as kantor of Emmaus Lutheran Church, South Bend, Indiana. Stoppenhagen is a member of The Diapason’s 20 Under 30 Class of 2023.
