Jackson Merrill is appointed associate for musical studies and assistant organist for St. Thomas Church and Choir School, Fifth Avenue, New York, New York. He leaves a position as assistant director of music and organist for Christ Church, Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Prior to Christ Church, Jackson was organist and director of music ministries at Trinity Church in Hartford, Connecticut, and organ scholar at St. John’s Church, Detroit.
Jackson studied organ with James Kibbie and Todd Wilson at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was awarded the Marilyn Mason Scholarship, the Patricia Barret Ludlow Memorial Scholarship in Organ, and the Chris Schroeder Graduate Fellowship. He is a member of The Diapason’s 20 Under 30 Class of 2021. He has served as sub-dean of the Detroit Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
