Matthew Noonan

Known for his passionate and inspiring performances, Matthew Noonan has given concerts in some of the greatest venues throughout Europe, Latin America, and South America. Matthew Noonan is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, The Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton University, and the Fredonia School of Music. Besides winning multiple American Guild of Organists competitions, Mr. Noonan won the Arthur Poister International award for his organ playing, and more recently won the first prize in the 2025 Beethoven International Music Competition. Since his European debut in Paris at the age of 20, Mr. Noonan’s performances have delighted audiences and have been hailed as both imaginative and dynamic. Popular with all ages, Matthew Noonan has performed for royalty as well as for children through family and school concerts.

Matthew believes that classical music, in particular, organ music, should be accessible to all. While Matthew has played in some of the world’s greatest venues, he is equally comfortable in smaller churches with smaller organs and is able to play a wide breadth of repertoire on even the simplest of instruments. Known for his interpretations of Baroque music and Bach, his driven, rhythmic style is a hallmark of his technique.

In what has become an annual event, the Gaston Concert Association (Charlotte , North Carolina area) sponsors Matthew to perform a Holiday organ concert each Advent season, complete with a sing-along and both classical and contemporary repertoire.

Very much in demand as a church musician, Matthew Noonan is the organist for two churches, Messiah Lutheran church (LCMS) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (NALC) of Gastonia, North Carolina. He is also the director of Fine Arts and music teacher at The Math and Science Academy of Charlotte. Samples of Mr. Noonan’s organ playing can be found on his website. Mr. Noonan can be contacted through his website and is available for recitals, masterclasses, and children’s events. His website also contains links to videos of Mr. Noonan’s organ playing.
