San Marino Community Church
San Marino (Cal.) Community Church announced the winners of the Elizabeth Elftman Organ Competition, held on March 14. First place winner was Providence Jeeyoon Choi, a doctoral candidate in organ performance at Boston University, studying with James David Christie, and second place winner was Andrew Peters, Organist at Brentwood (Tenn.) United Methodist Church and graduate of St. Olaf College, where he studied organ with John Ferguson.
The judges were Gary Toops, Richard Unfried, and Janet Keulen Thorson. Mr. William Elftman, who sponsors the competition in memory of his wife, presented the first place award of $1500 to Ms. Choi and the second place prize of $800 to Mr. Peters.
