Parsons Pipe Organ Builders, St. Benedict Catholic Cathedral

Parsons Pipe Organ Builders has completed new organs for Saint Benedict Catholic Cathedral, Evansville, Indiana. Their Opus 52 includes both Gallery and Nave organs. The Gallery Organ, three manuals and pedal, comprises 51 voices, 62 ranks, 84 stops, and 3,809 pipes. The Nave Organ, two manuals and pedal, comprises 8 voices, 8 ranks, 26 stops, and 560 pipes.

Opus 52 includes some ranks from the cathedral’s previous Wicks organ (1934, Opus 2367, when Henry Vincent Willis was tonal director) and a 1937 Austin from First Unitarian Church, Oakland, California, designed by James B. Jamison.

Designed in Lombard Basilica form, the cathedral is grand: 150 feet long, 65 feet wide, and 63 feet tall.

Parsons Opus 52 will be dedicated by Nathan Laube on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 7 p.m.
