Nathaniel Gumbs appointed to Yale University

Nathaniel Gumbs has been appointed director of chapel music for Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. He will work with students, faculty, and guests to coordinate music for three worshiping communities: the University Church, in Marquand Chapel, and at Berkeley Divinity School.

A member of The Diapason’s 20 Under 30 Class of 2017, Gumbs is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York. He completed undergraduate studies at Shenandoah Conservatory and earned the Master of Music degree from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Most recently, he has served as director of music and arts for Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte, North Carolina. (For further information, see the May 2017 issue, p. 21.)
