Pro Organo announces a new recording. Nordic Journey, Volume 6 in the series, features James D. Hicks playing the 1980, 4-manual Virtanen organ in Turku Cathedral, and the 3-manual 2002 Grönlunds organ of St. Michael’s Church, Turku, Finland.
The two-CD program includes works by Mauri Viitala, Armas Maasalo, Fredrik Isacsson, Pauli Riihivaara, John Sundberg, Marko Hakanpää, Harri Viitanen, Jean Sibelius, Kaj-Erik Gustafson, Jack Mattsson, and a world premiere of a new work commissioned by Hicks from Santeri Siimes.
Previous volumes in the Nordic Journey series feature organs in the Swedish cities of Linköping, Malmö, Skåra, Våsteräs, and Kalmar. Future releases are planned for locations in Norway and Iceland. For information: ProOrgano.com.
