Resolve for violin and organ

Resolve for violin and organ

Domecq Smith, a composer and past contributor of articles and reviews for The Diapason, has released a new single-movement work for violin and organ titled Resolve.

The performance features violinist Ruotao Mao and the composer at the historic Hook & Hastings organ of the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Orange, New Jersey, where Smith serves as Director of Music. Smith, a two-time recipient of the Meet the Composer grant under the auspices of the National Endowment for the Arts, is also a Lecturer in Music Theory for Rutgers Arts Online at the Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A video recording of the performance, which includes a scrolling score, is available on YouTube. A sample of the version for violin, strings, and organ is included below. For score inquiries, contact the composer directly via email at [email protected].
