Appointed organist and director of music
Robert McCormick is appointed organist and director of music at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont (Bryn Mawr), Pennsylvania. He will continue to lead the music program in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, expand the all-professional choir to include auditioned volunteers, begin an in-depth chorister program for children, and play the church’s 1977 Austin organ.

Gloriæ Dei Cantores and its director Richard K. Pugsley have been awarded the 2023 American Prize Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music with the group’s album To Speak to Our Time: Choral Works of Samuel Adler (GDCD066, $18.99).
Works featured include A Hymn of Praise, Let Us Rejoice, My Beloved Is Mine, Choral Trilogy, Psalm 23, To Speak to Our Time, and How Sweet the Sound.

St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church
Schantz Organ Company, Orrville, Ohio, has completed the relocation of a 70-rank organ for St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Norman, Oklahoma. Similar to the story of its neighboring parish, St. Thomas More, St. Mark’s obtained the instrument in 2014, and Schantz was initially engaged to provide a new mechanism. Schantz assumed the entire project as it evolved under the leadership of Adam Pajan, director of music.

The Fourteenth Mikael Tariverdiev International Organ Competition will take place September 3–9, 2025, in Kaliningrad, Russia, and is open to all organists born on or after January 1, 1985.
The first rounds of the competition will be held April 28–May 1, 2025, in Hamburg, Germany; May 5–10 in New Haven, Connecticut; May 15–25 in Seoul, South Korea; and August 28–31 in Moscow, Russia. Contestants may choose the location of their first-round participation.

Frederick Hohman served as organist, host, and producer of a weekly radio series between 1976 and 1979, Pro Organo. The half-hour program was syndicated in the United States to 24 affiliates with National Public Radio. After production on the radio series concluded, the series name Pro Organo was adopted by Hohman as the trade name of his recording label, founded in 1984.
