First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is seeking a church organist for immediate employment.
First Presbyterian has a rich and distinguished tradition of excellence in music ministry. One of the largest churches in the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery, First Presbyterian has a membership of over 1500 and is located on beautiful Hilton Head Island, SC. The instrument is a three-manual pipe organ built in 1988 by the Austin Organ, Inc. and contains 48 ranks with remote Trompette à Chamade.

Job Type: Part-time (15–20 hrs. per week)

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Music or equivalent experience required. Masters Degree (or higher) preferred.
Excellent keyboard skills; organ specialization strongly preferred.
Previous experience as a church organist.
Working knowledge of pipe organs.
Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications, and in accordance with AGO guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Provide organ and/or piano music in a professional manner for two traditional morning worship services and other special and seasonal services throughout the year.
Facilitate the congregation to sing and worship through creative inspiring hymn accompaniments.
Coordinate special musical offerings by encouraging the musical talents and participation of members of congregation and/or guest artists.
Accompany and rehearse with soloists and other guest musicians.
Accountable to the Minister of Music; liaison to the Worship and Music Committee
Assist Minister of Music with worship planning.
Arrange for qualified substitute organists/pianists when absent.
Accompany the Sanctuary Choir at weekly and special rehearsals and other choirs as needed.
Develop and oversee organ recital series.
Organist will play for weddings and funerals when an organist is requested.
Assist the Minister of Music as needed.
Direct choir in absence of minister of music.
Attend weekly church staff meetings.
Responsible for the overseeing of organ maintenance, including tuning and repair.
