Michael Hey and Christiana Liberis

Two classically trained musicians, both with broad musical interests and a variety of work in many of New York City’s musical circles, Michael Hey and Christiana Liberis embarked on a partnership in 2017 to bring a new and fresh approach to the organ and violin repertoire. They continue to explore and create vastly different styles and genres of music for these two great and remarkably flexible instruments.

Described as “scintillating” and “tremendously virtuosic” (The Straits Times, Singapore), concert organist Michael Hey has been increasingly visible on U.S. and international stages. He has performed organ concertos with the San Francisco Symphony, the Juilliard Orchestra, and New York City Ballet Orchestra. Michael has appeared at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden.

In Summer 2019, Michael performed solo recitals for the American Guild of Organists’ Northeast and North Central regional conventions in Buffalo, New York, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Earlier in the season, he performed solo recitals at Davies Hall (San Francisco), Overture Hall (Madison), and for the NYCAGO Presidents’ Day Conference at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, where he serves as Associate Director of Music and Organist.

In September 2017, Michael received first prize in the First Shanghai Conservatory of Music First International Organ Competition. Released in October 2017, Michael’s premiere solo CD recording, Michael T. C. Hey plays the Great Organ of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, is available for purchase by the JAV recording label.

In 2015, Michael was appointed Associate Director of Music and Organist of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, where one of his first major tasks was to perform for the first U.S. visit of Pope Francis. Michael plays at the Cathedral for services throughout the week which are broadcast on Sirius XM radio, television, and online.

Not exclusively a solo organist, Michael enjoys playing piano and collaborating with other artists. He is a graduate of The Juilliard School where he received his B.M. and M.M. degrees in organ performance under Paul Jacobs.

Born in Italy of Italian, Greek, and Polish heritage, violinist/violist Christiana Liberis is a performer of international reach. Recognized for her captivating tone and deeply enthralling musicality, she has performed to acclaim, transporting audiences with her interpretations of traditional forms of classical music as well as popular idioms. A versatile artist, Christiana’s career extends from performing classical music to working on television sets to sharing the stage with pop stars for sold out audiences.

Based in New York City, Christiana has been heard in concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, and Radio City Music Hall. She has studied with numerous internationally acclaimed teachers and has been coached by luminaries of the classical music world. After attending Aspen Music Festival, she was inspired to make playing chamber music a priority in her career.

She collaborates with members of well-known chamber ensembles, performs solo recitals, and can be heard on a variety of television and radio broadcasts, film and TV commercial soundtracks, and commercial recordings. Collaborations of late include performances with artists such as John Legend, Alicia Keys, Eminem, Kesha, Kygo, Shawn Mendes, Elle Goulding, Il Divo, Miley Cyrus, and Josh Groban on programs ranging from Good Morning America to The Jimmy Fallon Show and Saturday Night Live as well as at music festivals and awards shows; select dates as concertmaster for Jacky Cheung, and various concert engagements on tour with The Eagles, Evanescence, Il Volo, and The 2 Cellos. Christiana performed at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards and made her professional acting debut performing in NBC’s live 2018 Easter broadcast of “Jesus Christ Superstar”.  Additionally, she performed for Lincoln Center’s 60th Anniversary Jubilee gala with Joshua Bell, Harry Connick Jr, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and soprano Erin Morley-an event hosted by Neil Patrick Harris with appearances by Misty Copeland, Tiler Peck, and Chelsea Clinton, among others.

Christiana’s most recent work encompasses various commercial recording sessions for Philip Glass, recording for the 2021 Superbowl LIV, playing on director Lulu Wang’s new short film “Nian” for Apple-shot entirely on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and in celebration of the Chinese New Year, and performing in a string quartet for a televised special on Bravo for the launch of Brooklyn Point with Ryan Serhant of “Million Dollar Listing.”
