Lynne Davis, 30th-anniversary celebration

October 31, 2016

The Rie Bloomfield Organ Series presents its Distinguished Guest Artist, Lynne Davis, in a special 30th-anniversary gala celebration on Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Wiedemann Hall. This celebrates the building of Wiedemann Hall and the Marcussen organ in 1986.

Featuring dance-inspired music for organ by Couperin, Hampton, Duruflé, Bach, and Jehan Alain, the concert was organized by Lynne Davis, Robert L. Town Distinguished Professor of Organ, to include all three schools of the College of Fine Arts: music, art & design, and performing arts. From the design of the poster and the specially designed ceramic works to grace the stage, to the original choreography for Jehan Alain’s Trois Danses featuring six young dancers--for the first time on the Wiedemann Hall stage--this is truly an interdisciplinary event.

The dean of the College of Fine Arts, Rodney Miller, will make the opening remarks. The short onstage interview, “Conversation with the Artist,” usually conducted by Lynne Davis herself, will be done by Thomas Froehlich, organist of the First Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas.
