Golden Bells Chorale concert

The Golden Bells Chorale will present a celebration of the compostiions of Godwin Sadoh on Saturday, August 6, 2016, 5:00 p.m., in the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, Nigeria. The event is free and open to the public. Jimi Olumuyiwa is artistic director/conductor.

Godwin Sadoh is a Nigerian composer-ethnomusicologist, organist, pianist, and choir director. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, he holds the Bachelor of Arts degree in piano performance composition from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Nigeria; the Master of Arts degree in ethnomusicology from the University of Pittsburgh; a Master of Music degree in organ performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and a Doctor of Musical Arts in organ performance and composition from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, where he studied composition with Dinos Constantinides.

Dr. Sadoh has authored numerous articles on modern African art music, organ building, church music, as well as organist-composers in Nigeria appearing in such publications such as The Diapason, The Organ, The Hymn, ComposerUSA, Living Music, Twentieth Century Music and Organ Encyclopedia. He has performed throughout Nigeria and the United States as a recitalist, accompanist, and choral director and founded the Ile-Ife Choral Society and the Golden Bells Choral Group in Nigeria.
