ALCM Raabe Prize to David Ashley White

The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians has selected David Ashley White of Houston, Texas as the winner of the 2015 Raabe Prize for Excellence in Sacred Composition for his Spirit, Moving Over Chaos, set for chorus, oboe or C-instrument, percussion, optional handbells, and keyboard. Honorable mention was given to Jonathan Kohrs of Chicago, Illinois, for his Divine Service/Holy Communion, set for congregation and piano with optional flute, oboe, clarinet, string synthesizer, vibraphone, and bass; and Alfred Fedak of Albany, New York, for his You Hold All Souls in Life, scored for SATB a cappella choir.

The prize, awarded every two years, was endowed by Dr. William and Nancy Raabe of Milton, Wisconsin, to recognize accomplishments in sacred music composition in the Lutheran heritage. For information: www.alcm.org.
