Stephen Tharp will perform a concert of transcriptions and more on the Curtis Sesquicentennial Organ at the University of Pennsylvania's Irvine Auditorium, 3401 Spruce St, Philadelphia, PA 19104. One of the few remaining unchanged symphonic organs of the golden era of organbuilding, the massive 1926 Austin Organ comprises 162 ranks and 10,731 pipes. The newly formed nonprofit Fans of the Curtis Organ was founded to present concerts and recordings of the unique instrument. Concerts since the restoration of the organ have been rare. Following the rave reviews of his concert at the 2014 AGO National Convention, the opportunity to hear Mr Tharp master this mighty instrument will be a once in a lifetime experience.
