Pipe Organ Encounter (POE), an educational outreach program of the American Guild of Organists. is an exciting week- long summer event for teens to discover the wonders of the pipe organ, the King of Instruments.
The POE is designed for students, ages 13-18, who have achieved an early intermediate level of keyboard proficiency. Previous organ study is not required. Special consideration with regard to age and training may be allowed by the POE Committee on an individual basis.
Our faculty, which includes nationally-recognized organists and church musicians, will provide recitals, individual lessons, workshops and a masterclass.
HOUSING will be provided on the campus of Samford University in air-conditioned, double-occupancy dorm suites. Please notify us of any special needs or accommodations required. Most meals will be served in the Samford Cafeteria. There will be full-time supervision by POE staff.
