Organist Michael Britt and Phantom of the Opera

Michael Britt, both a frequent recitalist of classical organ literature and a performer of theatre organ music, will take a seat at the newly installed Rodgers 484 organ of Christ Church accompanying the silent film classic, “Phantom of the Opera.” In demand throughout the country as a silent film accompanist, Mr. Britt has been featured on Maryland Public Television and other televised presentations on the theatre pipe organ. In 1998, he was invited to perform at Baltimore’s Senator Theatre where he accompanied five silent films for the National Film Registry Tour sponsored in part by the Library of Congress. In May of 2009, Mr. Britt gave a recital on the great Cavaille-Coll organ at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris and studied organ at the Paris Conservatory with the legendary Marie-Louise Langlais.
