Open House for the Restored 1906 Wm. Pilcher Organ

October 23, 2012
Host Facility
Parsons Pipe Organ Builders
Location
4280 Bristol Valley Road, Canandaigua, NY
Time
1 to 4pm

Parsons Pipe Organbuilders is holding an open house to demonstrate the newly restored 1906 Wm. Pilcher pipe organ before it heads to the Clifton Springs Hospital chapel in Clifton Springs, NY.

The small, two-manual tracker organ was originally built for a small Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, NY. Water damage rendered the organ unplayable in the early 1950s, and the original congregation sold the building in 1964 to a church which did not use organs. The future of the organ seemed bleak, until Clifton Springs Hospital contacted Parsons with a request for a historic tracker-action pipe organ.

Wm. Pilcher Co. of Brooklyn built very few organs, and we believe this is the only intact example remaining. Come listen to the organ, try it out, and ask our organbuilders about the meticulous historical restoration.
