The Diapason September 2014 Newsletter

September 24, 2014

As the new church and school year gets underway, THE DIAPASON calendar is filled with events. We highlight some of these below: concert series, recital tours, conferences, and competitions, along with news of organists, organbuilders, and publishers. To read the news stories below, click on the link in the headline highlighted in color—that takes you to the full text on our website. From there, you can also link to additional information about the story.

THE DIAPASON also announces its first special event: Midwinter Pipe Organ Conclave, January 18–19, 2015, in La Grange, Illinois. This conclave will offer lectures and recitals on notable organs in this western suburb of Chicago that boasts many fine pipe organs.  The schedule will include lectures by Stephen Schnurr and Karen Brunsson, recitals by David Schrader, Jonathan Rudy, and Scott Montgomery, and more. Watch for further information in THE DIAPASON, on our website, and in next month's newsletter.

Also coming up is the deadline for the 2015 Resource Directory. This is the only comprehensive handbook for the organ and church music field. Make sure your listing is up to date, and contact Jerome Butera for advertising in the directory: 608/634-6253; [email protected].

Our newsletter sponsor is Létourneau Pipe Organs. Their Opus 122 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, Midland, Michigan, is featured on the cover of the September issue of THE DIAPASON. Clicking on their ads will take you to their website.

Make sure your friends and colleagues do not miss out on THE DIAPASON! Contact me and we’ll get a sample copy off to them.
